WHAT's NEW in VERSION 4.0? (4/00)
---------------------------------

3 GAMES in 1 PACKAGE!

Version 4.0 of WORD BLAST includes the game JUMBLE,
which involves arranging the letters of a scrambled word
in the correct order. WORD BLAST now includes a total
of 3 games:

WORD BLAST -- the original hangman-type game
WORD FIND -- find words hidden in an array of letters
	JUMBLE -- unscramble words

The JUMBLE game includes the blast and vocabulary-builder
mode options from WORD BLAST.

MULTI-PLAYER GAMES

Up to 4 players may now play a game of Word Blast.
The play rotates through the list of players in sequence.

CONTINUED SCORING

When a player launches Word Blast, his or her score
is initially set to the value that it was at when the program
in the last session of the game. Previously, a player's score
would always be reset to zero at the start of each game.

IMPROVED SCOREBOARD

The scoreboard will now track the top scores of up to 100
players (previously 10). An option exists for turning off the
notification that a player receives when his or her position
on the scoreboard moves up into the range from third
to first place.

---------------------------------

WORD FIND GAME

Version 3.0 of WORD BLAST includes the game WORD FIND,
which involves finding words that are hidden in an
array of letters.

This new version of WORD BLAST will automatically register
itself if any previous version of either program is on
your computer and has been registered (i.e. a valid
registration code has been purchased and entered for either
one of the programs).

SEQUENTIAL SPELLING

In Sequential Spelling mode, words must be spelled in the
proper order. Keystrokes that are entered out of the proper
sequence will count as incorrect guesses and will cause
the fuse to burn. For example, when spelling the word "Moon",
you must enter the letters in the sequence "M-O-O-N" (when
the sequential spelling option is not active, you could spell
the word by pressing "M", "O", and "N" in any order).
The sequential spelling option may be deactivated by selecting
the command again.

WHAT's NEW in VERSION 2.0? (1/98)
---------------------------------

Version 2.0 of WORD BLAST has three major new features,
and a number of minor ones. The highlights of the major
new features are described here. The internal workings
of the code in regard to the storage of word lists has
undergone a major overhaul in Version 2.0, with the
added benefit that word lists load into the system
faster than they did in the previous version.

MULTIPLE WORDS

Multiple words can be used in the new version. This
creates some interesting possibilities. For example, a
word list could contain the names of U.S. presidents, or
the names of states or state capitals. WORD BLAST comes
with all three of these word lists, plus a word list
containing over 1700 words and their definitions.
Easy-to-use menus enable the user to create new word
lists or to modify existing ones.

TAKE a "TEST"

Use the Take Test (sequential or random) commands to
take a "test" using a word list. This will cause WORD
BLAST to cycle through a word list, and present each
word in the list to the user. The words can be presented
in sequential or random order. In either case, each word
in the word list will be presented only once. At the end
of the test, the number of correct answers and
percentage of correct answers are given, and a grade of
"Outstanding", "Excellent", "Very Good", "Good", or
"Keep Trying" is displayed.

USE YOUR OWN SOUND FILES for COMPLIMENTS

When a player correctly guesses a word in WORD BLAST, an
audio compliment is played (if sound is supported on the
players computer). WORD BLAST comes with a dozen sound
files for this purpose. However, you can make and use
your own sound files for the audio compliments.
